Karen Mason My Safe Place Southern – XP Hospitality Dorset 2025

About Karen

Karen Mason is the founder of My Safe Place Southern Ltd, an organisation that helps holiday parks create safe and welcoming environments for neurodivergent guests.

She has worked in the holiday park and park home industry for more than 35 years. As a carer for her brother’s three neurodivergent family members, she also brings personal understanding to her professional work.

Karen believes the future of holiday living is neuro-inclusive. She founded My Safe Place Southern on a simple idea: everyone deserves to feel safe, comfortable and included while on holiday.

Through her consultancy, Karen supports parks across the UK to design environments that promote calm, comfort and connection. Her work includes accommodation layouts, sensory planning, staff training and accreditation. These projects show that inclusion is not only right for guests but also good for business.

About My Safe Place Southern

Karen returns to XP Hospitality to continue the conversation she began in Dorset. She will revisit the core principles of neurodivergence, why it matters for every park, and how small, thoughtful adjustments can transform the guest experience.

She will also share what has happened since her last session. My Safe Place Southern has expanded its work with new partners, wider community groups and local authorities. This has opened more routes for parks to access support, training and accreditation, making it easier to build environments that feel calm, predictable and welcoming for neurodivergent families.

Karen will show how clear communication, sensory-aware spaces and confident, trained teams reduce stress for guests and staff alike. She will also provide an update on the Benchmark Accreditation Scheme, including how it is growing and what parks can expect from the next phase of assessments and guidance.

Her message remains firm and forward-looking. Inclusion is not a box to tick. It is a long-term opportunity to build trust, strengthen loyalty and welcome a fast-growing audience who choose parks that understand and support their needs.
